Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Scribe (“the App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, do not use the App.

2. License

Scribe is provided to you under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the App on macOS devices that you own or control. You may not copy, redistribute, sublicense, sell, lease, or reverse engineer the App, in whole or in part.

3. Description of Service

Scribe is a predictive writing assistant that suggests word completions based on a bundled lexicon and on-device personalization. All processing occurs locally on your Mac. The App does not connect to the internet and does not transmit your text or personal data to any server.

4. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Scribe. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and accepted these terms on your behalf.

5. Privacy

Scribe does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. All predictions run entirely on your device. Personalization data (aggregated word counts) is stored locally in your Application Support folder and never leaves your Mac. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.

6. No Warranty

The App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that suggestions will always be accurate or appropriate for your context.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising from your use of or inability to use the App.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree to use Scribe in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You agree not to use the App to produce content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or harmful.

9. Third-Party Content

Scribe bundles the WordNet 3.0 lexicon from Princeton University under its respective license. The App also incorporates open-source components, each governed by their own license terms. See the in-app Third-Party Licenses acknowledgement for details.

10. Modifications to Terms

We may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

11. Termination

You may stop using Scribe at any time by uninstalling the App. We reserve the right to discontinue or modify the App at any time without prior notice.

12. Governing Law

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable laws, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
