Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 28, 2026
Overview
Scribe is built with privacy as a core principle. The App does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. All prediction and personalization happen entirely on your Mac.
1. Data We Do Not Collect
Scribe does not collect any of the following:
- Your name, email, or account information
- The text you type or documents you write
- Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry
- Device identifiers or location data
- Any data transmitted to external servers
2. No Network Access
Scribe contains no network client. The App does not connect to the internet at any time. There are no cloud services, remote APIs, or background sync. All functionality is fully offline.
3. On-Device Personalization
As you use Scribe, the App learns from your writing to improve suggestions. This personalization is stored locally in your Mac's Application Support folder as aggregated word counts. This data:
- Never leaves your device
- Contains no readable text—only numeric frequency counts
- Is fully under your control and can be reset or deleted at any time from the App's settings
4. No AI / No Machine Learning
Scribe does not use artificial intelligence or machine learning models. Predictions are generated by a deterministic lexicon engine using frequency data, recency, and contextual matching. No data is sent to any AI service.
5. Third-Party Libraries
Scribe bundles the WordNet 3.0 database from Princeton University. WordNet is included offline and no data is sent to Princeton or any third party. The App may incorporate other open-source components, each governed by their own license terms. No third-party library collects data from you.
6. Children's Privacy
Scribe is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from children. Because the App collects no data at all, it is compliant with children's privacy requirements by design.
7. Data Security
Since Scribe stores no data remotely and transmits nothing over a network, there is no risk of data interception or server-side breaches. Local personalization data is stored in your user Application Support folder, accessible only to your user account on your Mac.
8. Your Rights
Because Scribe holds no data about you, there is no personal data to access, export, or delete. You may clear local personalization data at any time within the App's settings. Uninstalling the App removes all associated local data.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date. Because the App is fully offline, you will always be using the version of the Privacy Policy bundled with your installed App.
10. Compliance
This Privacy Policy is designed to comply with applicable privacy regulations, including but not limited to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and Apple's App Store privacy requirements. Scribe qualifies as an App that does not collect data.
