How do I install Scribe?
After install, a Scribe icon appears in the menu bar. Open it and run Setup Guide: allow Accessibility and Input Monitoring, add Scribe under System Settings ▸ Keyboard ▸ Input Sources ▸ English, then choose Scribe from the input menu. The first launch may prompt a Gatekeeper warning—right-click and choose Open.
Does Scribe work in every app on my Mac?
Yes. Scribe is a macOS input source, so predictions appear in any text field. Select it from the input menu (or the Scribe menu-bar extra). Typing stays on the U.S. keyboard. A ghost completion sits at the caret; the suggestion bar sits at the top of the display, below the notch.
How do I accept a suggestion?
Type two letters and the top match appears as inline ghost text. Press Tab to accept it. 2 and 3 pick the next matches. Arrow keys cycle. Space always inserts a space. Esc hides suggestions. One ⌫ deletes a character; two quick ⌫ deletes the last word.
Is my writing sent to the cloud?
No. All prediction runs locally on your Mac. Scribe has no analytics, no network client, and no cloud language service. Personalization writes only aggregated word counts to your own Application Support folder.
What lexicon powers the suggestions?
Scribe uses the WordNet 3.0 database from Princeton University, bundled offline. It loads in the background so launch is never blocked—predictions begin almost immediately and refine as the full database parses.
Which languages are supported?
Currently English Latin-script words. The engine is dictionary-agnostic via a replaceable frequency interface, so additional languages can be added in future.
Is Scribe a keyboard replacement?
No. Scribe compresses typing without replacing the keyboard—it augments your existing input with a predictive lexicon. It’s about choosing better words, not typing faster.
